WHO I WORK WITH
I believe living in your authenticity and rewriting narratives no longer serving you can lead to holistic healing. I am interested in working with the intersections of body autonomy and how we hold both shame and power in our bodies. This includes working with LGBTQI2A, gender diversity, sexual minorities (i.e. polyamory/BDSM), sexual trauma, all stages of a person's birth story (family planning, early pregnancy loss, abortion, labor, and post-partum). I am passionate about bringing access to both art and mental wellness to underserved communities.
MY APPROACH
I approach my work collaboratively, firmly believing that my clients are the authorities on their own lives. My role is to facilitate opportunities for introspection, enhanced self-compassion and understanding. I adopt a social justice perspective, recognizing the potential influence of systemic oppression on what brings us to therapy.
My theoretical orientation is greatly influenced by liberation psychology, narrative psychology, strengths-based, person-centered, and expressive arts approaches. In the therapeutic setting, I utilize visual arts, movement, poetry/story, sound, tarot, ritual, plant material, and mindfulness to empower and ground my clients.
MY BACKGROUND
I have nearly a decade of experience in the medical field, specifically at a reproductive health clinic. There, I was committed to working with low-income and culturally-diverse clients with an emphasis on prevention and empowerment. As part of graduate school, I provided brief bedside therapy at a hospital in San Francisco addressing clinical issues relating to trauma, depression, anxiety, substance use, pain management, adjustment to hospitalization, aging, and grief and loss. Concurrently with my private practice work, I provide trauma informed culturally responsive counseling services to youth and families in the school setting, supporting youth to thrive and overcome impacts of trauma.
WHY I LOVE THIS WORK
I am a proud third-generation Oaklander and am passionate about giving back to and working with the community I am rooted in. Being a therapist is a sacred endeavor where I am able to guide someone on their journey of healing, self-discovery, and personal growth. This profession is characterized by continuous learning, both within and outside the counseling space. I constantly evolve and develop alongside my clients, making it a dynamic and rewarding experience.
A BIT MORE ABOUT ME...
I enjoy discovering the natural beauty of the Bay Area through new walking routes for my dog and finding serene bodies of water. My interests extend to exploring new cities, hunting for vintage clothing, reading, making Spotify playlists, listening to a plethora of podcasts, and cherishing quality time with my community of friends and family.
