WHO I WORK WITH
I am a Certified Clinical Nutritionist who values accurate, evidence-based nutrition therapy that restores mental and physical health. I have seen and worked with all kinds of food challenges – complex GI issues, vegans, vegetarians, food allergies/intolerances, mental health conditions, and substance use disorders. I developed a strong passion for mental health nutrition, because of my lived experiences. I have been where many of my clients are, and understand the frustration that comes from feeling like you aren’t in control of your mental and physical well being.
I work from an All-Foods-Fit perspective which normalizes food as fuel and eliminates labels, such as “good” or “bad”. Utilizing my training in Intuitive Eating, my goal is to reduce shame and guilt around food, and help you tune back into the physiological signs of hunger and satiety.
Every single person has the ability to heal themselves when given the right tools and guidance. I would be honored to be your guide.
MY APPROACH
Food philosophies have become far too complicated, making it challenging to navigate everyday food decisions. We are constantly bombarded with conflicting messages, food myths, deceiving marketing and wellness gimmicks. My goal is to dispel these myths and provide you with the latest evidence-based tools, so you can start making decisions that meet your actual needs.
Client-centered, inclusive care is at the basis of everything I do. In learning your story, I include you in the discovery process and tailor recommendations to address your unique needs. I look upstream to consider the complex web of interactions in your history, physiology, lifestyle, genetic makeup, your internal (mind, body, spirit) connection, and external environment (both physical and social factors).
There are many things we can address in our work together, and while food is important it isn’t the sole focus of my work. Ultimately, we are working to create long-lasting behavior change, by inviting curiosity and a healthy dose of self-compassion. My practices are grounded in medical nutrition therapy, a non-diet approach, mindfulness, Health At Every Size (HAES®), and Intuitive Eating principles.
MY BACKGROUND
I have always had a passion for health and wellness, and have ten years of experience in the natural products and supplement industry. After going through some health challenges of my own, I set out for more answers and found myself wanting to learn more. I have a Master’s Degree in Human Nutrition and I am a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS), the gold-standard certification for advanced personalized nutrition therapy. I have a strong background in functional and integrative nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, and herbalism. I also have training in Intuitive Eating, eating disorders and disordered eating. My personal passion is in mental health nutrition therapy. I have extensive training in evaluating functional labs, the physiology of digestion and its connection to our nervous system, nutrient deficiencies associated with mental health conditions, and how the microbiome can play a role in the progression of these disorders.
WHY I LOVE THIS WORK
I love helping people (like you!) discover that life is not about perfection. It’s hard to be fully present when you are constantly worrying about food, or your mental and physical health. Feeling like you are living a life of subpar health, stressing about food choices, and sending negative messages to your body distracts you from what is truly important, and keeps you from living your fullest life.
A BIT MORE ABOUT ME...
When I am not supporting people on their journey to better health, I spend my time backpacking, camping, paddle boarding, biking and hiking my way through the great outdoors. My husband and I have a goal of going to all of the National Parks in the United States, and so far we have been to 23 out of 63. Food and cooking are a love language for me, because coming together at a table to enjoy a meal creates an intimate connection to those you share it with. I have recently discovered the Art of Fermentation and started culturing my own yogurt. I look forward to expanding my fermentation skills in the kitchen.
WHAT MY CLIENTS SAY
“After years of struggling with GI issues, with little guidance from my doctors, Erica was able to finally help me get some answers about my health. She is a genuine healer who actually worked with me to find answers instead of simply giving me prescriptions without any info on what was causing my symptoms. I was given options based on clear well relayed knowledge that helped to guide me to effective solutions that were comfortable for me and my lifestyle. Working with Erica has been a breath of fresh air and has empowered me to continue my journey with a clear path toward health.”— IJ

Erica is an effective listener. She doesn't dictate treatment. She suggests and encourages me to be active in my treatment options and decisions.
